Sports such as tennis and squash put high demands on the body and require you to be able to control multi-directional movements; as a result injuries can often occur and can affect all parts of the body. Our physiotherapist’s are not only experienced at treating injuries of this nature but also have the knowledge to analyse your serve or other components of play that may have contributed to you sustaining the injury and which will assist your future performance.

Swimmers

Swimming is one of the most popular sports in the UK, with huge participation at non-elite level. People swim for reasons that range from fun, relaxation and cardiovascular fitness to competition. In contrast with other mass participation sports such as rugby and football, swimming is relatively safe, with a low risk of major musculo-skeletal injuries, even at top competitive level. Musculo-skeletal injuries in swimmers may be traumatic or secondary to overuse. Overuse injuries occur predominantly in elite swimmers and mainly affect the shoulder, although many also involve the knee, elbow, foot and ankle, and the back. At Metro Health & Wellbeing we have Physiotherapists who have a proven track record in treating patients who gain swimming related injuries.

Winter Sports Players

Winter sports are great fun but unfortunately are fraught with injuries! Our physiotherapists’ can provide strengthening and pre-hab programmes to get you in shape ahead of your holiday and are experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries that can commonly occur whilst on the slopes.
